Ugandans have been asked to doubly improve rice production as a way of ensuring food security in the country and increasing rice export.

The call has been made by the Coalition to African Rice Development at conference that concluded at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort in Kampala today.

The coalition’s director, Dr. Ngongi Namanga said that there is need of doubling rice production in Uganda by 2018 so that the country becomes a big rice producer to satisfy the local and regional markets.
