Paddy production, Area, and Yield: Phase 1 Baseline: NRDS 2018-2022; Phase 2 Baseline: FAOSTAT (figures for 2018); Current: FAOSTAT (Figures for 2022); 2030 Target:  Since the target setting in the new NRDS has not yet been finalized, the targets for 2030 are tentatively set against 2018 figures (= Phase 2 Baseline), as follows: Production: 100% increase; Area: 37% increase; and Yield: 46% increase. These percentages are the same as the rates of increase for the respective indicators set as targets at the CARD initiative level.

Self-sufficiency: Self-sufficiency ratio: FAOSTAT Food Balance Sheet (2021). Self-sufficiency ratio is calculated using the definition of FAO: Production / (Production + Imports – Exports) x 100. Imports, Exports and Consumptions: FAOSTAT Food Balance Sheet (2021). Data are converted from paddy to milled rice equivalent, using the rate of 0.667, which is also used by FAOSTAT. Consumption refers to the element “Food” in Food Balance Sheet.
