SC 20 meeting, July 2024

The 20th CARD Steering Committee meeting was held at the African Union Development Agency-New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD) Hall in Midrand, South Africa on 16th -17th September 2024. The meeting was organized in a hybrid mode, wherein SC representatives from AATF, AGRA, AUDA-NEAPD, FAO, IFAD, IRRI, JICA, JIRCAS, and World Bank participated physically and SC representatives from AfDB, AfricaRice, FARA and IsDB joined virtually. The representatives from the Regional Economic Communities (RECs), EAC and SADC participated physically and, ECCAS and ECOWAS joined virtually.

THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF THE SC20

To share the progress made by CARD and its steering committee members during the past year on CARD activities. Especially on the formulation and implementation of national (NRDS) and regional (RRDS) rice development strategies, and monitoring & evaluation (M&E), share contributions from SC members to rice sub-sector
development in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and deliberate on improving the framework of CARD’s actions during the rest of Phase II.
