Project Goal

Increase up 8-10 times the current rice production by the year 2021

Project Objectives

Increase rice productivity

Support private sector in rice production

Improve production and dissemination of pure rice seeds

Enhance mechanization of rice cultivation, harvesting and post-harvesting

Minimize post-harvest losses

Improve research, technology dissemination and capacity building on rice cultivation

Project Outputs

Availing of annual financing for the project

Availing of inputs for all states

Supporting ARC activities for producing BS, FS & CS by financing weeding of the field

Implementing demo farms in all states in collaboration with states' Ministries of agriculture

Conducting training courses in rice production techniques

Sharing in field days in Gezira & White Nile States

Selling produced seeds from the farmers for all states

Preparation of certified seeds to be propagated by the farmers

Collaboration with JICA through Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meetings

Updating the National Rice Development Strategy (NRDS) in collaboration with CARD secretariat and JICA
