Please see the position paper prepared by AGRA on the impact of the Middle East conflict on the transformation of Africa’s food systems. As it clearly states, the disruption of rice imports, coupled with soaring fertilizer prices, will worsen the current situation, including for domestically produced rice. Even if the recent ceasefire is maintained and a peace agreement is reached, it may take time to reverse this trend.
